This is our new revised course which brings together the learning from legislation, reviews and practice.

This course replaces the Everyone's Responsibilty course and the Working Together course. 

It is a requirement that before attending this course, ALL applicants must have completed Introductory/Basic Child Protection training e.g. single agency or e-learning. 

Teas / Coffee's will be provided throughout the day. Delegates will need to make arrangements for their lunch. 

Trainer:

This course will be delivered by the Safeguarding Partnership Team.

Aim:

The aim of the course is to explore the process of safeguarding children, and give delegates an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of individuals and agencies involved.

Some Key Outcomes:

  • Understand the implications of legislation, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, Keeping Children Safe in Education 2019, Inter-Agency Policy and National Guidance, including the function of the Safeguarding Children Partnership and Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews.

  • Identify thresholds and the meaning of significant harm, have an understanding of the Continuum of Need.

  • Recognise the additional vulnerabilities of families where there is a disability.

  • Understand information sharing, and confidentiality and consent related to children and young people. An awareness of GDPR.

  • Understand the impact of parenting issues such as domestic violence and abuse (including honour- based violence), drug and alcohol misuse, mental health, neglect, self-harming and fabricated illness.

  • Identify the meaning of child exploitation.

  • Explain the importance of good communication, recording skills and how to present safeguarding concerns verbally and in writing.

  • Understand Inter-Agency Frameworks, roles and responsibilities.

  • Know how to manage allegations of child abuse perpetrated by professionals, including Escalation and Whistleblowing.

Intended for:

This course is for all staff who work in a variety of roles with children, young people and/or their parents/carers. It is particularly relevant for those who potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and/or evaluating the needs of a child or young person outlined in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) and Keeping Children Safe in Education (2019).
