The Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Childrens Partnership are pleased to be hosting our summer conference.
The theme is Safeguarding: Sexual Imagery in the Digital World.
This conference is aimed at colleagues from across the Safeguarding Partnership working with or coming into contact with children.
Throughout the day guest speakers will share knowledge, expertise and tools, including:
Rhiannon-Faye McDonald - Expert by Experience and Head of Advocacy at the Marie Collins Foundation
Rhiannon will share her own deeply personal experience of being groomed and exploited as a child, the impact this has had on her, her family and life.
Zoe Lodrick - Psychotherapist, Trainer and Consultant
Zoe will explore the nature of the perpetrator, the psychology behind their actions and intentions. She will share the impact on the victim and the impact of trauma. Zoe will share tools and methods for working with children and young people that are victims of online abuse and trauma.
Charlotte Witherspoon - Safeguarding Consultant at Education Child Protection Ltd
Charlotte will focus on navigating algorithms to address safety concerns on internet, 'algospeak' exploring age authentication measures and discussing the challenges that come with this. As well as providing actionable advice for families, emphasising the importance of proactive measures, Charlotte will also explore strategies for creating a balance between independence and safety online, along with insights into the Online Safety Act 2023 and its implications.
Adrian Thomas - Detective Chief Inspector, Thames Valley Police
Adrian will focus on a local perspective, what is being done across the county to combat, disrupt and address the criminal aspect. He will share recurring themes and learning from Local Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews.
Local agencies, Charities and support groups will host stall to share resources and information for professionals.
