Megan Karnes Director of Hoarding UK https://hoardinguk.org/  a charitable organisation committed to increasing choice and control for those effected by hoarding.  Hoarding UK identify hoarding as a self-neglect and Mental Health issue in which discriminatory practice is common.  Hoarding UK aim to empower professionals to provide appropriate and effective interventions whilst supporting those with hoarding behaviour.

Throughout this course you will gain an increased understanding of Hoarding:

  • Choice and Control in Hoarding Behaviour  
  • Understanding hoarding disorder
  • Case study work (throughout)
  • Risk/Risk Assessment/Legislation including Safeguarding and Care Act 2014 
  • Positive engagement/Techniques
  • Supporting hoarding disorder through the term of the relationship using Motivational Interviewing and the Cycle of Change
  • Outcomes are policy and practice tools as well as an action plan
